Niwaki Kenzan Flower Frog, Small
We call them flower frogs; in Japan, they're known as kenzan. No one really knows why they're called frogs, but one might guess it's because they're usually found sitting quietly underwater. Kenzan means 'sword mountain', which is much more obvious.
If you're unfamiliar, a flower frog is designed to sit in the bottom of a bowl or vase filled with water. The sturdy brass spikes hold flower stems in exactly the shape you want, which is why they are essential for ikebana and useful for western-style flower arrangements where they do away with the need for floral foam.
This medium-sized kenzan is perfect for creating artful displays of flowers in a vase, bowl or dish.
