Garden Consultations

Garden Consultations

Does your garden need a refresh? Are you all out of ideas? Or perhaps the needs of its leafy residents a complete mystery to you?

Sometimes all you need is a little professional expertise and someone who knows their plants to point you in the right direction. Don’t feel cornered or compelled to call in an expensive designer; I am here to help.

A garden consultation with me, either remote or in person, will help unlock your plot’s full potential. I can highlight landscaping opportunities, offer advice on planting, help you formulate a maintenance plan and troubleshoot problem areas. Most importantly, I can save you from making costly mistakes and help you get the most from your garden, whether large or small.

I offer two options. Both start with with a request for images or plans of your garden and an outline of your needs so that I can prepare for our conversation. I will follow up with written recommendations based on what we discuss:

  1. A 1-hour online consultation for £195.
  2. A personal visit to your home for £495 (plus travel expenses if it’s over 60 miles from Broadstairs).

Gardens are my passion, so I like to be generous with my time and knowledge, ensuring you get as much help as you need to proceed confidently. Courtyard and coastal gardens are my specialisms, but I’m happy in gardens large and small, urban and rural.

My qualification is a 1st Class BSc in Horticulture & Landscape Management from the University of Reading. I will draw on 40 years of gardening and garden-making to help you achieve your goals. I am not a garden designer, but should you feel inspired to commission one, I will be delighted to make recommendations and introductions. I can also advise where to source plants and other materials you may need.

If you’d like to book a garden consultation, drop me a line at dan@dancoopergarden.com, and I will get in touch to arrange a meeting time. I will request payment for consultations in advance.

Here's what clients have to say:

"We were completely stuck with what to do with our front garden – it’s a tricky space and we are complete novices! Dan’s consultation service was just what we needed. He took the time to deeply understand what we both like (and don’t). Drawing on his expertise and insight about the local area, he produced a fabulous proposal document / guide just for us. We are excited and confident to move forward with this project now. Thanks, Dan for your responsive, friendly, and insightful support. We would 100% recommend this service." Laura and Rob, Broadstairs.

"Dan spent a day with me walking and talking through the various garden beds I have on our farm. Before his visit, he helped me get a vision for what I wanted to focus on, so our day together was extremely productive. He made many suggestions for improvements to existing plantings, vistas, and design of beds. His knowledge of suitable plants, colour schemes, textures and issues is vast, so I found his input incredibility valuable. He brought a new perspective on my garden following the visit up with a detailed email. I’m planning on working with him as mentor to ensure my revised vision comes together as I want it to." K.D. Surrey.

"I recently had a video consultation with Dan to discuss how to improve our garden. Throughout the process Dan genuinely could not have been more helpful or in tune with what we are trying to achieve. I'm certain that as well as moving us along the path to having a great garden, he has ultimately saved us money by avoiding costly mistakes. I thoroughly recommend his services." A.W. Hampshire.
