A painted balustrade of latticework and arches around this birdtable provide a safe area for smaller birds to feed. The height limitation prevents access by larger species such as crows, pigeons, magpies and seagulls. It also makes life difficult for predatory sparrow hawks that target small birds on open feeder tables.
The Bempton Birdtable has a clever, detachable side panel and a recycled plastic tray that lifts out to facilitate cleaning. Brush out and disinfect the feed tray regularly to prevent moulds and diseases from building up, drying thoroughly before re-use. An annual repaint using exterior water-based paint is recommended to keep the surface sealed and to maintain a smart appearance.
